Tea Parties & Puppet Shows

This morning was particularly hard for me to get out of bed.  As any of you who have been 8 months pregnant know, your sleep at this point is not what I would call high quality.  I get maybe 45 minutes at a time until I am either uncomfortable or need to use the restroom, and thus wake up.  Last night was particularly bad because in the midst of all that, I suddenly couldn't fall back asleep for several hours in the middle of the night. Uhg.

Of course my most cheerful and adorable child was up and ready to play bright and early, but she very sweetly brought the adventure to me.  We ended up having a tea party in my bed for almost an hour this morning while I gratefully got a bit more rest as she served up cake and crumpets.

Impromptu tea party in mommy's bed.
After I finally gathered the energy to get up for the day, I was really excited to take her to her first theater experience (and a bit nervous about how she would behave). Luckily, it was a fairly low-pressure situation: a kid-oriented puppet show at the Roswell Arts Center, which only costs $5 to attend, so if she flipped out or refused to sit still, no big deal.  I was thrilled to find that she loved it and was so proud of how she sat through the entire thing, entertained and engaged and asking to come back again when it was done.  I have great memories of my parents taking me to see Les Mis and other classics at the Fox Theater when I was growing up, they were such special occasions, and I am really looking forward to doing the same with my girls.  So this was good training.  =)

The seats provided plenty of entertainment before
the lights went down!
