Meeting the Family

Nora spent the first few days of her life meeting her amazing family, who all came out with much enthusiasm and love to see her. She is a lucky lady to already be so very cherished!

Aunt Steph & Cousin Ingrid came to visit!
Brother & sister getting to know their nieces!

Meeting her Papa....
...and her Nana
To my amazing sister, whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude for taking care of our sweet Everett while we were in the hospital and making the transition for all of the Life Events as smooth and easy as possible. Thank you, Merrill!
Aunt Merrill with the Nugget.
Of course, the most important family member got a very special introduction. The week before Nora was born, EJ and I went to Target together so that she could pick out a present for her new Baby Sister.  She brought the gift with her to the hospital, and (conveniently!) Nora had a special present for her Big Sister as well! EJ was as cute and sweet as she could be.  And both Omar and I were SO happy to see her, we had really missed our Tiny Tornado.

Meeting her Baby Sister!
So proud and happy to be holding her!
Sweet kisses from a sweet girl.
How cute are they?!
Thanks to our amazing family who have loved and supported us throughout the last 10 months (not to mention our lives in general) and whom already have opened their hearts to this little bundle of cuteness and showered her with love as well. We are so lucky to have you and cherish each of you and thank you for loving our little girl so much, so soon.

Nora P - 1 Month Old!

Happy Birthday, Baby!

It's hard to believe Nora P has been with us for an entire month.  In some ways it seems like time has flown by, in other ways it feels like she has always been a part of Us.  This first month we have spent our time getting to know our newest member and figuring out how she fits into our family.  A few things we have learned:
  • This kid loves to sleep! <----- I am in no way complaining about this one
  • If she isn't sleeping, she is eating <------ Not surprising, based on her outstanding fat rolls: those take work, people!
  • She likes pacifiers more than EJ did, but still doesn't seem like a hard-core paci baby
  • In the rare event that she cries, it can normally be solved very quickly with one of the above options (read: she has - thus far - been a really wonderful, easy baby; I feel like I just thumbed my nose at the baby gods and will be regretting typing that, but it's true)
  • EJ loves her "Baby Sister" but does not seem to have a good grasp of the terms 'gentle,' 'softly,' or 'careful' quite yet   =)
  • However, EJ has been very sweet, not particularly jealous, and actually somewhat helpful thus far!
  • Tito does not appear to be as offended by this latest addition to the family as he was by the first

From the mouths of babes

Just a sampling of some things EJ has said recently that had us laughing (and we want to make sure to remember).

Daddy: "Everett, what's in your mouth?"
EJ: "Nothing"

Daddy: "Everett, what is it? Open your mouth"
EJ: "Just some food"
Daddy: "Where did you get the food?"

EJ: "My nose"

While pooping on the potty: “I’m just dropping off some ewww.”

*******************************

While I was pumping.  She calls nipples nickels: “What’s your nickel doing, momma?  It just being silly?”

She recently picked up a curse word, ooops. As mortifying as it is, it has made for some very funny episodes in which we are hard pressed not to die laughing as our adorable 2 year old curses like a sailor.  Even though she only heard the word once, she somehow immediately knew how to use it completely appropriately. The most memorable of which was when she told Omar: "Stop touching my toes, goddammit."
