This year my dad turned 70 so we traveled to Charleston to help him celebrate. Jan planned a wonderful party for him at their house, and the rest of the weekend we spent doing all kinds of fun things like going to the beach and taking a tour of the local playgrounds. Happy Birthday, Dad! We love you!

Everett's first question upon arrival was if my dad would share his cake with her. Which meant that of course we had to make a cake.

Luckily, Jan is always prepared and a great sous chef. =)
During this trip, we finally figured out that Nora looks like my dad when he was little - they both scrunch their noses when they smile.

It was a wonderful trip and I am so glad we were able to spend that time with my dad to help him celebrate such a momentous year. As I said in my toast, at that moment he was exactly twice as old as me, and I can only hope my next 35 years are as fantastic has his last 35 years have been.
